'revenge' returns this sunday on abc with new episodes. robyn ross ('tv guide') has a great article and this is from the opening:
The last time we saw Emily (Emily VanCamp), she thought every piece of evidence that could prove her father's innocence had gone up in flames with the plane carrying Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe). As she stood in shock, Emily's best friend Nolan (Gabriel Mann) dropped another bomb by showing her a video not only incriminating the Graysons, but revealing the mother she thought dead was actually alive. In the upcoming season, premiering Sunday at 9/8c on ABC, Emily will find her long-lost mom, but will continue to painstakingly lie about her identity to keep everyone from finding out she's really Amanda Clarke.
First Look: Jennifer Jason Leigh gets her Revenge
"What we really wanted to do in Season 2 was expand our world, so we are going to see Emily's mom, we're going to explore some different themes this season like free will and we're also introducing another character from Emily's past," executive producer Melissa Loy tells TVGuide.com.
Keep reading to find out more about Emily's mom, her new man, why Jack is heading to the dark side and when we'll learn what really happened with Victoria's plane.
Mommy dearestWell not quite. Jennifer Jason Leigh joins the show as Emily's mom, but Emily can't reveal her true identity to her parent. "It's a little bit heartbreaking, and the relationship she starts building with Amanda Clarke is very telling of what she should be doing with Emily because she thinks this other girl is her daughter," Loy says, adding that eventually, "We learn the whole backstory and what happens between her and Emily when she was a little girl and why she stayed away all these years."
josh bowman is interviewed by 'rolling stone':
To hear the 24-year-old British actor tell it, these are just a string of normal occurrences on Revenge, which also stars lead vixens Emily VanCamp (as Emily Thorne, née Amanda Clarke) and Madeline Stowe (as Victoria Grayson) and is loosely based on The Count of Monte Cristo. The show's unflinching commitment to being a sudsy guilty pleasure earned it top ratings in its Wednesday night 10 p.m. time slot. Starting this weekend, it'll join Once Upon a Time and 666 Park Avenue on ABC's newly reprogrammed Sunday night. Bowman recently stopped by Rolling Stone's offices (sporting a pair of Nike kicks he designed with his personal motto) to chat about the show's success so far, what's ahead for season two and what life was like pre-Revenge.
For all of the things that happened to Daniel last season, which had the biggest impact?
]Josh Bowman;] Probably Emily. For Daniel, he's very much still thinking about Emily when the season starts. We start the season with Daniel recovering. My sister survived but my mother is dead, and I'm going through that, and I'm also in somewhat of a relationship with Ashley Davenport, who is working at Grayson Global with me. The summer's just starting, and Conrad is running Grayson Manor, so he's like – it's kind of like Scar's lair in The Lion King. You know, when it's all burning and it's kind of dark and the ashes are there. It's kind of [got a] very Hitchcock-y feel to it all.
my plan was to share some thoughts on what i hope for this season (season 2) on 'revenge.' that plan is trashed because i read a third story (which included a video sneak peak) and now i can't do anything but think 'huh?' and 'what?'
my daughter's going down an hour before the show starts. i want to be sure she's in bed asleep before the episode starts. i want no interruptions.
this is really must-see-tv.
let's go out with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
Friday,
September 28, 2012. Chaos and violence continue, Iraq War veteran
Brian Kinsella begins motoring across America to raise awareness of
soldier suicide, the Defense Dept releases their latest monthly suicide
figures, the State Dept reclassifies a group, the Wall St. Journal does
the best Western-English language report on the prison assault in
Tikrit, Bradley Manning's attorney calls for charges against Bradley to
be dropped, and more.
Iraq War veteran Brian
Kinsella is among many who enjoy motorcycles (he rides a Harley Davidson
Street Glide). Today, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, he begins a
two-week, 5,000 Ride For Life as part of the mission of Stop Soldier Suicide:
During the journey, Kinsella will talk with soldiers, veterans, and senior military leaders at 12 military installations while spreading a word about military suicide prevention and existing civilian sources of aid for US troops.

Click here to see a map of the route at the Stop Solider Suicide website. Online, you can follow the journey via the Ride For Life Twitter page, the Stop Soldier Suicide Twitter page and via the Stop Soldier Suicide Facebook page as well as the Stop Soldier Suicide blog. Alyssa Newcomb (ABC News) reports Brian Kinsella was the platoon leader in 2006 when an 18-year-old soldier in his platoon attempted to take her own life. He tells Newcomb, "She moved into a male dominated unit, trying to figure out what the hell she was doing to go to war. We as a command could have done more to make sure this person had better acclimated to our unit." Julie La Roche (Business Insider) explains:
During
the two-week ride, Kinsella will make stops at 12 military
installations where he plans to promote SSS's mission, raise awareness
about soldier suicide and form partnerships.
He's also encouraging people to join him on different lengths of the ride to show their support.
"Our
desire is for people to join the ride as I pass through towns. It will
really show how much people care and support our brave veterans,"
Kinsella said over coffee last week on September 11th in the Flatiron
District.
Frustration
among Iraqi Sunnis with what they regard as the government's sectarian
bias has colored parliamentary deliberations over a controversial
amnesty law, which if passed could see thousands of prisoners freed for
the sake of furthering national reconciliation.
On
Thursday, a Shiite parliamentary bloc that had adopted the bill
withdrew it from voting after failing to agree on whether those
convicted under a terrorism law known as Article Four should be
considered for amnesty as advocated by Sunni lawmakers.
[. . .]
Many
of those held at the Tikrit prison were on death row and were scheduled
for transfer to Baghdad to carry out their sentences, said Mr. [Mishaan
al-]Jubouri [, former MP], and other officials in the province.
The
latest example of Islamist inspired action was far more violent. In
2012, there were reports that anywhere from six to forty emos and gays
were murdered in Baghdad. This came after the Interior Ministry posted a
statement on its website calling emos Devil worshippers in February.
The Ministry then called for a police crackdown, while at the same time
claiming that any deaths were being made up by the media. Stories
emerged that Shiite militants were handing out lists of people they were
going to kill. In March, Human Rights Watch blamed the government for
the attacks, which was later substantiated by a BBC investigation. The
BBC found that the Interior Ministry statement about emos being
Satanists led to a concerted and covert campaign to murder gays and emos
in the capital by members of the security forces. While Adnan Asadi
is the deputy Interior Minister, he was appointed by Prime Minister
Maliki in 2011, who is still the acting Interior Minister. Like the
alcohol banning, this appears to be an instance where the premier has
used the security forces to go after those he feels are in violation of
his image of what an Islamic society should be like. Unlike those
earlier events however, this one has led to several deaths, which will
go unpunished since they are at the behest of the central government. At
the same time, this again shows that Maliki and Dawa have only felt
comfortable imposing their views on a limited scale, only going after
emos and homosexuals in certain districts of Baghdad, rather than the
whole city, other provinces or the entire country.
