The ranks of America's poor edged up last year to a high of 49.7 million, based on a new census measure that takes into account medical costs and work-related expenses.
poverty is at an all time high.
instead of reporting that in october, the media told us the unemployment rate was dropping.
they sure did their part to cover for barack, didn't they.
but then the media's always been involved in attempts to dismantle social security. so what's going on now is no different than it's always been.
they worked overtime under reagan to create lies about social security going bankrupt. under the first bush, poppy bush, they worked to divide young and old with lies about 'chiseling old geezers.' they went after gen x, targeting them with non-stop propaganda and that was the media conveying that message.
the media's always been against social security. they will always back some 1 they believe can dismantle it.
the strange thing is the bulk of working journalists barely make lower middle class. but they are so eager to identify up and pretend they have more money than they do.
i've had an argument with a reader (a good reader and a smart 1) about social security for some time now. specifically, she feels i should write more on this topic. my attitude is that i've written on it and i can only do so much.
i'm not going to need it. i've fought this fight and will gladly join with others to continue to fight it. but it's not for my own self-interest. i really feel like those who will depend on social security need to be making the arguments because i do get e-mails that say basically, 'rich bitch, you don't even need it.'
i don't weep over those e-mails..
i can take them and get through the day easily.
but, due to my background, economics isn't a topic i'm going to be seen as a go-to on. i do have money. i did sell off my business and retire early. very, very early.
i could have lost everything in enron (and flyboy could have lost some of his money) if it weren't for c.i. i've blogged about this before. i told her about my adviser putting all my money in. and c.i. started grabbing her stomach. she was sick to her stomach. like that episode of 'will & grace' where rosario is in jail for trying to bring things through customs for karen. so every time grace says 'rosario', karen grabs her stomach.
it was like that. c.i. was telling fly boy and me to pull everything immediately. i know to trust that woman's gut. so we both pulled. and people continued to make money for nearly 2 years more. and then they lost every thing.
so i could be dependent upon social security; however, i am not and i know that, therefore, there are people who aren't going to listen to me on the topic. and that's fine. but that's why i believe others should pick up the lead. i'm happy to amplify.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
