that's Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "The Grand Bargain" and it's about how we're about to lose social security and other parts of the safety net, but don't worry because maybe, just maybe, the rich will pay a few pennies more in taxes. that's the grand bagain, that's what's supposed to make every 1 happy.
what a crock.
and i felt that way reading sean penn's article for 'the hollywood reporter.' what a crock.
it didn't start out that way. in fact, i was enjoying it.
and then i got to the sexism.
which only reminded me of sean penn's past homophobia, of his sexism, of his abuse of women. how many people today can claim to have shot their girlfriend and gotten away with it? even phil spector went to prison.
what was a good column about how his father suffered due to the blacklist suddenly offers this:
And so now is it our turn. We still sit silently while chicken hawks and bottle-blond and unsubtly augmented pundits sing cheap poison in best-selling books, bloated radio and skin-deep TV. Still today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has yet to offer a clear acknowledgment of its own complicity in the shameful witch hunt of the 1950s that was the Blacklist. In the name of patriotism and patriots (most of whom would never have even asked for it) and in the name of our own dignity … it's time
'chicken hawks' is as offensive as 'bottle-blond' and 'unsubtly augmented' (he's saying 'boob job')?
why did he have to go there?
why did he have to attack women based on their looks?
and who the hell is he to knock a woman who bleaches her hair? did he not become famous as a 'bottle-blond' in 'fast times at ridgemont hight'?
are we supposed to believe his 1st wife madonna never had plastic surgery while the 2 were together?
where does he get off?
if he'd attacked the men based on their looks, i wouldn't have objected. but that's only where he goes for women.
it's trashy and it's sexist and he has a history so he needs to take a little more care when writing.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
