sunday at 3rd, we wrote 'Silence bought is not innocence' and i was really surprised that, as mondy ended, kevin clash still had a job. not because i think we are magical or powerful but because you can not be the parent of a young child and not be aware of the kevin clash scandal.
there are several of us with young children.
and we know it's all parents are talking about.
kevin clash was forced out of the closet last week. the over-50-year-old man had been happy to hide there. he was the subject of a documentary, wrote a book, gave tons of interviews, would usually trot out his daughter and leave it implied that he was straight.
it's a shame that a scandal forced him to come out. that might be the only good thing. or would have been if he hadn't been so shameful.
he is the elmo puppeteer on 'sesame street' and a man accused him of having sex with him when the man was a boy.
i didn't blog about it here. i didn't say a word. i waited for the truth to emerge.
then the accuser recanted. fine.
kevin clash is innocent. then i find out that he's paid the recanter $250,000 the day of the recanting and required the man to sign a statement.
innocence is not bought.
but 'sesame street' wsa going to stick with him which tells you what they think of children - what they really think - on sesame st.
a 2nd accuser has come forward.
this isn't about kevin being gay. this is about the accusations of him having sex with boys. he was an adult of several decades, they were boys.
that's a crime. but apparently pedophiles live on sesame street. that's going to be my title because i'm so pissed at that program right now. they could have and should have let him go on monday. if they had, the 2nd accusation would be about 'fired sesame street puppeteer' instead, they're all in it.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
