that's Isaiah's latest The World Today Just Nuts "The 2,000 Mark" above and part of the sunday treats along with Kat's "Kat's Korner: Heart Walkin' Good" and remember that the heart album comes out tomorrow. in honor of heart's rocking out, let's all shout 'never' and do a nancy wilson air kick.
that's tomorrow. last night abc's 'revenge' kicked off season 2.
i don't know about you, but woah. and omg.
it was everything i could have hoped and then some.
if you haven't seen it and plan to, stop reading now.
you're still reading, so it's on you.
we got our 1st look at jennifer jason leigh as amanda's mother. it was a flashback scene. emily (really amanda) remembered visiting her as a small child when she was in an institution and strapped to a bed. emily thorne is really amanda clarke. emily vancamp plays the role.
she spent season 1 trying to get revenge on those who framed her father david clarke for terrorism resulting in him going to prison - where he was killed. the graysons framed him. conrad (henry czerny) and victoria (madeleine stowe) grayson framed him. victoria was sleeping with him. last year, we saw her agree to betray david to protect her son daniel (josh bowman) who was a small child then and to protect herself. if conrad went away, victoria and daniel would lose everything. and this was supposed to be hard for victoria to do.
she was pregnant with david's child. conrad didn't find that out until last year. he'd believed all her life charlotte was his daughter. (charlotte's played by christa b. allen.)
so emily made sure to get her revenge and she did on a number of underlings. then she went after the white haired man who killed her father. and she could have killed him but she remembered her father telling her she was kind and forgiving, so she let him go.
meanwhile victoria and conrad were over - because he cheated on her, because she was going to the feds with information to put conrad away. information showing he was the 1, not david clarke, working with terrorists. she got her ex-friend lydia (who was sleeping with conrad) to join her and the 2 took off to d.c. - or we thought so - when the plane crashed.
emily thought it was all over. the evidence clearing her father gone. and that's when she saw a taped conversation between victoria and the white haired man where they were talking about amanda clarke's mother and how the woman was still alive.
so that was the end of last year.
amanda went to japan for aditional training which mainly was her beign tied to a post on the beach that flooded when the tide came in. so she was with takeda (now played by cary-hiroyuki tagawa) and a new guy who's going to be a potential love interest.
it was while near drowning that she remembered visiting her mother.
the new guy rescued her and she told she had been trying to remember. takeado gave her a little speech and she gave him 1 back promising every 1 who had lied to her about her mother - including him - would pay.
sort of surprised me to see emily saying that. usually she keeps her hand hidden.
so she goes back to the hamptons and ends up with nolan (gabriel mann) as her sidekick. he's looking for a new home and selling his old 1 so he's staying with her which doesn't thrill her. they go to the institution where her mom had been and look for files. it's closed. a woman posing as amanda clarke's aunt charlotte signed the book on a visit. they conclude it was victoria grayson (she named her daughter charlotte after that aunt of amanda's).
too bad victoria's dead.
but emily's going to worm her way back into the graysons.
so charlotte's almost done with rehab. she's doing very well. doctor dick (my name for him) even thinks so. she wants out to go to a charity event honoring her late mother. conrad's there and saying no but doctor dick says he'll accompany charlotte.
ashely (ahsley madekwe) is with daniel now. they're not a happy couple and have no chemistry. but it lets ashley speak for the family at the charity aucition.
charlotte's outraged (and should be) and rushes up to say a few words about her mother.
then it's time to bid and while the bidding goes on, dr. dick gets a phone call.
he tells charlotte her drug test is back and she failed, they have to go back right now. she gets really upset. she tells conrad that he's responsible for this, she accuses him of crashing the plane and killing victoria so she wouldn't talk.
as they try to pull charlotte off the boat the auction's on, she see's emily and runs to her. (emily's sent her post cards and visited her at rehab. they also got close last year when emily found out charlotte was her sister.) she grabs emily and whispers 'catskills' and something else to her.
nolan walks up asking what that was all about?
amanda walks off without responding.
now amanda's knocking on a door. is this now or a flashback?
and the door opens.
victoria asks her what she's doing here?
and we go to commercial break.
when we come back, we learn this isn't a flashback to before the plane crash.
victoria is alive.
emily explains what happened to charlotte and that charlotte told her that victoria was alive. victoria says the feds are hiding her away until their case against conrad is firm.
if that's true, shouldn't we see bodyguards or fbi agents?
emily steals a clam off the mantle while victoria's not looking.
victoria's calling charlotte on the phone no 1 knew charlotte had in rehab. it goes off while dr. dick's in charlotte's room. he hears the vibration and finds it. he answers the phone and victoria hangs up.
she's in agreement with charlotte.
emily tells nolan she needs him to turn the clam into a webcam so they can spy on victoria and she needs him to research dr. dick.
emily is amanda. as an adult she swapped identities with emily thorne (margarita levieva) after they were both in rehab. fake amanda is now pregnant with jack's child. he thinks she's the amanda he grew up with. his brother declan doesn't like her and emily has doubts that the baby is jack's which she shares with jack. she doesn't share more and amanda (fake amanda) tells her that if people find out she's not amanda, then they'll find out 'emily' isn't emily.
emily returns to the catskills. victoria is her usual short self with emily.
she asks why she's there. emily hands her the file and explains the doctor's operated under various names and been in trouble with the law for taking bribes ('donations') to release patients and keeping them if he doesn't get what he wants.
while victoria's looking at the folder, emily puts the clam back on the mantle (now it has a camera).
conrad and daniel have friction. i'm leaving that out and going to the ending.
so emily asks nolan if the camera's turned up anything?
nope. just then they hear victoria talking and watch the stream.
guess who she's talking to?
the white haired man.
he blew up the plane. we saw that on the last episode last season.
they're working together. and she tells him they need to get rid of emily thorne.
now, if you forgot, the white-haired man knows emily is really amanda.
i found it interesting that he went along without telling victoria that it was amanda. leading me to believe he's not really working with victoria, just letting her think that and that he's working for some 1 higher up.
and now you understand why the fbi wasn't around. victoria's not being protected by them.
let's close with c.i.'s ' Iraq snapshot:'
