from last night, that's Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Tom Hayden Democrats" taking on the hideous tom hayden.
tomorrow, it'll be a book post, just fyi. i don't think most of you will have heard of the book before. but i think you will be interested in it.
it's not a sex manual but it does have sex in it - as in sex affairs among famous people. that's all i'll say tonight but i really think you'll be interested in it. it's non-fiction. i'll add that as well before some 1 wonders what jackie collins' book i'm reading.
that's not meant as an insult to jackie. i like her books and she's also a very lively, very funny person. if i was going to be a writer, i'd want to be jackie collins.
i'm not joking. i think she's had a huge impact.
writing for a predominately straight audience, mainly women, she introduced gay characters as real people long before other writers - more esteemed writers - were willing to go there.
she also made strong woman an important part of the best seller in ways that so many male novelists (harold robbins among them) didn't.
whether it's lucky or whomever, jackie's women are strong and confident. they don't wait for things to happen, they do.
my top 5 favorite books by jackie collins are:
5) 'the world is full of married men'
4) 'rock star'
3) 'hollywood wives'
2) 'lady boss'
and my number 1 fave: 'chances'!
i've written of 'dynasty' before.
let's all be really honest, which i know the shapiro's won't like. 'dynasty' rips off 'chances' big time. that's where we meet lucky. they use lucky for fallon with the hotel and the whole daddy fixation. and the gay brother and all of it.
i think the hotel lucky runs is even similar to the name of the hotel fallon will run on 'dynasty.'
jackie collins writes entertaining books about characters that hold your attention and read real. that's no easy accomplishment.
even if you will allow her as being good only on the best seller list, she's still 1 of the best on that list if not the best.
for years, it wasn't summer without a thick jackie collins book to read on the beach. (jackie hasn't lost her talent but i've got a young daughter now. give me a summer or two more before she wants nothing to do with mommy and then i'll be lugging a big book by jackie again.)
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
