abc finally managed to bring 'revenge' back on last night.
damn, i love this show!!!!
so emily's continuing her attempt to have her revenge for what these people did to her father and to her.
remember she was going to let daniel go as nolan recommended and rethink things but then daniel came back from his talk with his mother victoria and tells emily that david clark raped his mother. (david clark is emily's father, emily is really amanda clark.)
that changed everything and she declared that she would marry him.
so this was the engagement party and i thought that was where the person gets shot but nope.
what happened was that jack is still mooning over amanda (emily swapped names with amanda when they got out of juvie, who jack calls amanda is really emily and not the little girl he grew up with). he's also still bruised from that guy who beat him up. he finds a video cassette under the bed.
emily had missed that 1.
and he concludes, from the writing on it, that amanda stole it from the bad author (ha-ha, you got what c.i. and ava were telling you, didn't you? you knew it was this show, right?) and set fire to his home. (in reality that was emily.)
so he goes in search of amanda and can't find her but leaves a voice mail for her saying he has that tape.
emily has amanda's phone and panics. she gets amanda back in town and in a hotel where jack visits. but he won't give amanda the tape and she's too in love with him (she really does love jack) to take it before he leaves.
her only hope is for nolan to wipe it as he promised he would.
but jack shows up to watch the tape on some equipment that nolan's hooked up and he tells nolan how he's not been nice to nolan and nolan's been a real friend to him and he really appreciates it.
nolan's obviously touched. he asks jack why he can't just let go of the tape. jack says he needs to know what's on the tape to have closure.
it's amanda (really emily) as a little girl explaining her father is innocent and that lady with the dark hair knows it. who is that woman, she's asked? amanda says it's victoria.
emily's got a set of tapes of her own, remember. she has all the tapes of the interviews except the 1 jack has.
and she wants to out charlotte as david green's daughter. (and her sister.) so she's going to use the engagement party to do so.
victoria's already tense because she invited her father-in-law knowing he's the last chance she has at a settlement.
and emily shows up at the party and hands an envelope by the door to the maid (it's got the tape in it). and she waits and waits but it gets dropped on the stairs.
she rescues it and is about to do something when victoria pulls her away.
then victoria tells her soon-to-be ex-husband that she can destroy him by letting his father think she'll make it a messy divorce. she wants him to stop shutting charlotte out, to never tell her that he's not her father and to give her (victoria) a nice divorce settlement.
she's thrilled because he has no cards to play. she's trumped conrad.
they all get around the table.
and jack storms in.
to tell victoria off.
at 1st, daniel thinks he's there because of emily. (daniel's always been jealous of jack and emily.)
but jack tells victoria she could have helped that little girl, amanda clark, but she did nothing!
during all of the loud argument at the table, emily just keeps her head down.
so daniel has to get involved in defending his mother (remember he falsely thinks she was raped by david) and conrad is making snide remarks. and then daniel's saying they can't do this in front of charlotte who, all the sudden, perks up and wants to know what's going on.
conrad spills it. he'll always be her dad but he's not her biological father, david green is.
and daniel then defends his mom to conrad who insists it was an affair, a long affair, between victoria and david.
daniel pipes up about the rape and starts insiting victoria tell every 1 and victoria stands up, does a quick look around the table and walks off.
daniel tells emily he can't believe that his mother lied to him and that he fell for it.
william devane is playing conrad's father, by the way (and very good in the role but he's always such a great actor).
so he's been trying to see if the marriage could be put back together.
after the table, he doesn't think so and he tells conrad that he's out and that he (devane) is going to replace him with daniel.
conrad is furious.
emily (on the phone) wants to know why nolan let jack watch the tape. nolan lies and claims his attempt to erase it didn't work. (nolan never tried to erase it. when jack told him how important it was to him, nolan moved the eraser away from the tape.)
so she heads home (with daniel saying he'll be over in just a moment).
and she walks in ... to discover that her living room hiding place (floorboards lift up) where she keeps various papers and documents about her real identity? it's wide open. and some 1's left a copy of her engagement party invitation in it.
she looks around nervous that whomever broke in may be in the home right then.
who was it?
i think it could be amanda because she's pissed about losing jack and had told emily she wasn't helping her anymore. (how did she know about the hiding place? i have no idea.)
i also think it could be lydia.
lydia loathes emily. and lydia owned the beach house before emily. emily was using that hiding place from the start of the show. but at the start, she was renting the beach house from lydia and lydia's husband (grant?). then lydia's affair with conrad got exposed (by emily, though no one knows except nolan) and lydia's husband left her and she lost the beach house which was put on the market and bought by emily. but what if the hiding place dated back to when emily (really amanda) and her father david green lived in the beach house? if so,lydia might have known about it as the next owner of the beach house.
who else could it be?
it could be jack who left furious and we didn't see where he went, same with conrad.
it's not daniel. he would have waited on the couch with the papers to confront her.
it could be her friend (who has stabbed her in the back repeatedly) ashley. it could even be ashley's ex.
it's such a great show.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
