it makes complete sense
politico reports that the white house is asking the supreme court to rule on obamacare.
they're surprised, at politico, because that will put it right in the middle of 2012 when the verdict could come down and might it hurt him in the election?
barack's not done well in federal court. it would be more harmful if he continued to rack up losses there. those losses - which are about equal with his court wins - undermine obamcare by demonstrating how many agree that obamacare is illegal.
when nancy pelois was 1st asked about legality, remember she dismissed the question as insane. clearly it was not an insane question or there would not be so many judgments against it.
in addition, if it's defeated by july or even as late as october, barack probably thinks he can push through some other thing in his final months (presuming he's defeated) before he leaves office.
