it was an interesting show.
i like the c.f.o. of nolan's company. she's a good actress. but i really don't see her with nolan. not just because nolan's bi and likes rough trade (he slept with tyler all on his own, that wasn't the assignment and tyler was definitely rough trade). i wish she'd be a friend but i see them being pushed together to be a couple.
other minor moments.
jack and faux amanda argue over her attachment to the graysons. he wants her to return a gift for their baby from charlotte grayson. faux amanda clarke points out that charlotte grayson is actually charlotte clarke and amanda's sister. that doesn't change jack's mind.
ashley and daniel are a joke as a couple and ashley looks like a dip not grasping that. ashley was barely on.
the big set piece was the lead up to a press conference victoria was going to hold. she was going to have the family stand together and announce some minor details about her kidnapping (that wasn't a kidnapping).
we did learn that she got off the plane when the gray haired man called her, told her it was going to explode in the air and that she could give him half of charlotte's inheritance and he'd let her (victoria) live and not go after charlotte. victoria got off the plane. (she obviously didn't tell lydia and lydia died. good. lydia shouldn't have slept with victoria's husband conrad last season.)
emily has the white haired man's phone (remember he's dead, the australian killed him). and she gives it to nolan so nolan can find out some basic information from the phone and the sims card. but the aussie is off on his own mission - actually takida's mission. and he warns emily that her mother (remember, emily learned her mother is alive in the season cliff hanger) isn't the focus of their mission.
emily brushes him off.
so he goes to a motel where the white haired man was staying.
emily should have gone.
he finds some airplane part and takes it. on his way out, he's stopped by the manager. she has several questions for him.
emily should have gone.
the manager lies - obviously. but she calls the police after he leaves to check that aussie was police like he said. she learns he wasn't.
and the manger? amanda's mother. (emily is really amanda. she's changed her identity to return to the hamptons and get revenge on the people who framed her father david clarke for terrorism.)
so if emily had gone with the aussie, she wouldn't still be searching for her mother, she would have seen her. jennifer jason leigh is a great actress and brings complexities to any role. as i interpret this, her 1st modern (non-flashback) scenes, i believe she and the white-haired man were a couple. after he and victoria lied to her in the nut house and told her she had to come with the white haired man and that he was fbi, he was supposed to kill her (on victoria's orders). he didn't and i believe it's because he fell in love with her.
how much she knows about anything, i have no idea.
so victoria's being interviewed by vanity fair.
but emily has already been told by victoria to stay away for good from now on. she claims its the only way to keep emily safe. (charlotte had told emily about victoria not dying in the plane crash, remember? and emily knows that victoria wasn't a prisoner. emily knows a great deal more but that's all victoria knows emily knows.)
so emily goes to amanda and tells her she has to go to charlotte and give her a diary.
amanda doesn't want to she says jack's her family and jack doesn't want her hanging around the graysons.
emily says that they're family that they changed identies because they became family (when they were in juvie together). faux amanda's an idiot but she's not that big of an idiot. so emily then blackmails her. if amanda doesn't do this, emily's telling jack it's not his baby.
(it is jack's baby but emily lied to her last week and told her it wasn't jack's but that she fixed the paternity test to make it look like it was jack's.)
so faux amanda goes and gives charlotte the diary. she warns her it's not nice about victoria.
charlotte storms in on the vanity fair interview and screams at victoria and tells the reporter that 'terrorist' david clarke was her father, not conrad.
victoria goes ballistic. she snarls if the reporter prints that she'll sue for libel.
(charlotte says it's only libel if it's untrue.)
emily goes to the graysons even though she's not supposed to. she leaves a package for daniel at the security gate (though no 1 knows who left it 'it was during shift change'). she then tells ashley that a press van is blocking her drive (she lives next door). ashley doesn't care until emily mentions some male neighbor we've never seen and emily says he said he was calling the police.
ashley goes to get the van moved.
daniel and emily talk. he's just seen his package. it demonstrates that she was not kidnapped and was not held prisoner. he's furious.
he confronts his mother with the photo. in front of people and press.
(as emily planned.)
victoria should be very humiliated.
but you know victoria.
she goes through with the press conference. at it, she announces charlotte is david's daughter (and praises conrad for keeping quiet - conrad never knew until almost the end of last season). she then calls for amanda to join them and presents all of them as a family united. (but she hisses at amanda - faux amanda.)
jack sees the press conference and is angry.
then he gets over it and tells her that he'll let it slide but he won't be forgiving about everything. (he does, however, get that charlotte and amanda have to have a relationship.)
declan. remember how he was keeping jewels for the frat punk and i knew that was trouble? frat punk and a frat bud broke into a house and nearly got caught. instead the home owner thought it was declan. he confronted declan in front of jack and declan played along like he was guilty and that he would return the stuff. i assume this sunday we'll see declan confront the frat punk.
the people behind the terrorism saw victoria's press conference. they call conrad. i took the call (the bit we heard) to mean they were going to kill victoria. maybe i misunderstood? otherwise conrad lied to her. he told her that her going public about david clarke meant that he and victoria had to remarry (if their divorce is final, if not just resume their marriage).
i think that's everything.
there was a lot in the episode. but it was really a victoria episode.
she tells him victoria told her to stay away and she was afraid victoria was speaking for him. daniel makes clear that's no the case and is ready to confront his mother about a number of things. emily advises him that with victoria it's better not to let her know when you're angry with her.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
