"American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson expressed support for Ron Paul on Twitter, writing on Thursday, "I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't."
good for kelly clarkson. it takes guts to support the underdog. look at how cowards like susan sarandon, ani difranco, patti smith, eddie veddar, et al ran from ralph nader after 2000 and became blind whores for the democratic party. i wouldn't have thought she had the guts but i guess, as she sings on her new song, 'you don't know me.'
as is usually the case when some 1 takes a stand, others have to show up to attack. 'the contra costa times' reports the reaction:
Fans roasted the singer, 29, for supporting a politician who has been accused of being racist and homophobic -- based on articles published in a Paul newsletter more than 20 years ago, which the candidate denies having written. One follower tweeted, "Wow, so a pop star endorses a lunatic racist, homophobe and anarchist? Kelly Clarkson, you need to look at Ron Paul closely."
The backlash prompted Clarkson to clarify her support for Paul.
"I am really sorry if I have offended anyone," she wrote. "Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he's my favorite."
did any 1 really think kelly was homophobic?
seriously?i haven't bought her tracks, downloaded or on cd, but even i know how silly that idea is.
what a shame that she took the time to share something on her twitter feed with those who choose to follow her feed and they want to slam her for it.
hey, fans, remember that the next time you want kelly or any 1 to tell you the truth about something.
what a bunch of morons. they should be apologizing to kelly.
and the rumors about ron paul were addressed in 2008 by paul. the media needs a story so they try to treat it as a fresh hook. it's not. it's old news and it did not reflect ron paul's beliefs. he has disowned those articles repeatedly for years and years now.
thing is, though the lynch mob probably didn't know that, the press does.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
