hey, politico, drew westen did the same thing
that's Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Got A Vacation To Take Care Of First" from yesterday and it's so true.
barack tells the country he's got a jobs plan ... and then he goes on vacation. what's the jobs plan?
he'll get back to you on that in a few weeks.
what an ass.
keach hagey and ben smith (politico) report that a company named fbc media provided 'reporting' to the bbc, cnbc and others as well as to the atlantic magazine but, oops!, they were taking money to promote the countries they were 'reporting' on. this is a big scandal.
but, hey, hagey and smith, there's a similar scandal in america.
at 3rd, we wrote 'Emory University, address your ethics problem' about drew westen co-writing barack's big philadelphia speech and then showing up in the media - including with an over 1200 word column - praising the speech.
and never, ever noting that he co-wrote the speech.
it's a real shame that politico does less and less reporting. they just gather stories reported elsewhere, apparently.
i'm really glad we blew the lid off that. it was actually a fleeting sentence in c.i.'s 'The Cult of St. Barack (A Primer)' but jim was reading over c.i.'s shoulder and was all, 'WHAT!!!!' he had no idea. most people didn't. c.i. knows all the secrets. but jim said, 'this isn't a single sentence, this is a full report.'
c.i. basically forced us to write 'Stop the bombing' - we were tired and had other things to write. but c.i. grabbed 15 minutes and said, 'listen.' she did a presentation and she stressed, 'this is very, very important.'
after that went up, hours later, a family of 8 (initially reported as 7) died in a turkish bombing on northern iraq.
everybody i spoke to today was all 'oooohhhhh.'
and wondering how did c.i. know?
i swear she's psychic. she gets offended if you say that. but that woman, when her gut tells her 'do this,' you do it because if you don't, you're going to kick yourself.
and, to be honest, if she hadn't cared so much about the topic, i would not have voted for us to do the article. but i know her. and i know there are things she'd like us to write every week and often pitches them. but this wasn't just 'we need to do this because it's important,' this was 'we have to do this.'
and when it's a have to, you listen to her. that gut knows. it's like a car alarm. when her gut goes off, you listen.
i'll write about the e-mail tomorrow. every 1 wants to know or comment on that.
i'll just say i always appreciate c.i. sticking up for me. when she called me saturday night, told me she was going to write about it, i told her she didn't have to. but i was so glad she did. she asked me if i'd do a screensnap and send it to her which i did. but, again, i'll talk about that tomorrow.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
