Wally here filling in for Rebecca. I asked her last night if I could because I wanted to write about the hearing we were planning to attend today.
This afternoon the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel held a hearing.
The Defense Dept. wants to save some money.
There are three wars going on with people -- Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya -- and there's the drone war on Pakistan. And what does the Defense Dept. want to do?
Cut the benefits of the active duty and the military retirees.
You and me, we'd suggest ending the costly wars.
That would cut down on the spending. But that's us. People with common sense. In Congress, they're bought and paid for by the lobbyists.
And they always vote to spend more money on war and more money on weapons.
The most ridiculous moment in the whole hearing took place shortly after Lindsey Graham arrived. He (C.I. quotes this in the snapshot) and Jim Webb tried to pretend that they're going to be on the military health care plan. Liars. The Senate and the House have the Cadillac plan. You only have to serve one term and you've got it for life.
They need to quit pretending they're 'just folks' and looking out for the military as well as themselves. They're such liars.
If you're in the military or you have a loved one who is, you need to ask yourself why the media isn't reporting on these efforts?
And here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
