that's from a radical profeminist and i say yea! naomi wolf is not the voice of feminism and i'm glad she's going down. she's a little liar who has excused away men time and again.
did david brock really make up by admitting he lied? did that really make up for his smear campaign on anita hill for instance?
telling the truth is what we expect people to do.
you shouldn't be rewarded for telling the truth.
but who waived him through, who said 'all's forgiven'? naomi wolf, if you didn't know.
now david uses the same crappy, bad journalism practices he once aimed at anita hill and the clintons but he aims them now at republicans.
naomi wolf is the reason the left is so awful. she's the one corrupting us.
and i'm glad she's getting hers.
she's doing so much damage right now. she really needs to be called out and then some.
there's a young feminist, harriet j., who blogs at fugitivus and she writes about the damage naomi's arguments and attacks are doing and asks:
I ask that you denounce Naomi Wolf’s comments on Assange’s rape charges.
I ask that you denounce that “no means no” is all there is to rape.
I ask that you acknowledge that “yes means yes” is now a part of the feminist lexicon, wherever it might go, however it might evolve from here.
I ask that you acknowledge that “enthusiastic consent” is a theory highly worth pursuing.
I ask you to do this because you have names that people recognize as part of feminism. So does Naomi Wolf. And now we are all experiencing, en masse, the old phenomenon: “I know somebody who is a feminist, and they think this is fine.” A big-name feminist has said, publicly, that initiating sex with a partner who is asleep is not rape. That ripping a woman’s clothes off is not a force, is not a threat, is not violence, has no bearing upon the context of safety. That political targets are incapable of raping, because there can be no reason for them to be accused that is not politically motivated. This has given permission to all those who believe the same to tell us that we are wrong. The new guard, we know each other’s names, but the general public doesn’t know us very well yet. We do not have the weight of years of revolution behind us. When Naomi Wolf says that sleeping women can be raped legally, this becomes public knowledge. When we say, “yes means yes,” the general public does not hear, and the general public does not care. They can now point to Naomi Wolf and say, “You are wrong. You are not feminism. She is. And she says I can do this to you, and you can’t do anything about it.”
You have names. You have voices. Please give us somebody else to point to when we are told that we can be raped in the ways Naomi Wolf has decreed are acceptable. Please let us know that we are not on our own, that we have not already broken away, and did not hear the crack until Naomi Wolf “agreed to disagree” about our bodily autonomy, our safety. Please let us know that, with one arrogant statement, feminists cannot really erase the rapes that have been experienced by countless survivors. Please let us know that you hear us, that you believe we are feminism, too. Please do not let Naomi Wolf become the voice of what is rape, because rapists were listening when she spoke, and judges, and juries, and future victims who will spend their lives believing it was their fault, and they are always saying “yes” if they are not shouting “no.”my friend t saw that. she loved it for the writing and she loved it because it showed her what i'd told her about before.
t called me and said, 'remember at the start of the month when c.i. called out rape apologist naomi wolf and wrote that she rebuked naomi? there's a woman calling for people to do that online! how does this happen?'
because i had told t about it. i've known c.i. for years and years. when she's furious, she's tapped into something, something cosmic. don't try to analyze it, don't try to figure it out. just listen (if she's speaking - read if she's writing) and grasp that you're about to hear (or read) every argument that's going to be made over the next months. she is scary in touch with the mood and the tone and i don't know how she does it.
here's what c.i. wrote that t was talking about:
Attacking defendants -- especially ones asserting they were raped -- is disgusting and something feminists -- real ones -- regularly call prosecutors out for. The case will (presumably) unfold in public and people will form their own opinions as it does. To attack the defendants at this point is indefensible and Naomi Wolf is no feminist because all that I've gone over is Intro to Feminism 101. I do not claim to be the voice of feminism. I am one voice. At Third, Ava and I present a feminist take. We don't do "the take" and I'm not "the voice" of feminism. But Naomi Wolf has a real issue with victims of rape (as well as with lesbians which is why this woman so concerned with people's legal rights has failed to write one word on Don't Ask, Don't Tell in the last two years) and she has not and is not conducting herself in a manner that is either feminist or even just pro-woman. Somewhere around the time she was referring to a Black pioneer as homely (there was no reason to make a judgment of the woman's looks; however, if you're going to make such a call, the woman was pretty) while glorifying a White woman (Naomi's second book) and her passing off lesbians as 'stunted' females who haven't fully evolved (her third book), a public rebuke should have been in order. Naomi, I rebuke thee.
and you may also grasp how what's going on right now, it's as though every thing ava and c.i. have been writing the last five years was leading up to this. c.i. hates it when i call her prophetic (at most, she'll admit to 'lucky' or 'lucky guesses') but she knows, she knows stuff. she can tap into the coming mood before any 1's even noticing it.
naomi's goose is cooked and, for feminists and survivors of rape, that's a good thing.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
