so we had each thought of 1 focal point. mine was a zero. all the films were out.
flyboy went with director david cronenberg and when we got to the video store, there were a ton of david movies. we got scanners which i was new to and loved, videodrome which i've seen before and always enjoyed, last night (which i slept through, sorry) and 2 of my favorites.
before i get to those, i should tell you david is not your typical director.
he makes david lynch look like frank capra.
he has a unique vision and that comes through in all of his films. (dead ringers wasn't there but i enjoy that 1.)
so my 2 favorites were?
i love holly hunter so you know i loved crash.
crash is about people who get a sexual charge out of car crashes. they set up their own crashes so they can have their wild sex. holly hunter is 1 of the actresses i wish worked a lot more and i am so pissed at tnt for canceling her show last summer.
the other film?
eXistenZ with jude law and jennifer jason leigh.
so how can you go wrong there?
you've got our finest actress under 50 and mr. hot and sexy in a film by david cronenberg.
in it, there are all these twists. jude and jennifer go to an event where a new game is tested. and quickly it becomes an issue of what is the game and what is real.
sarah polley has a very small part but she's great in it as well.
so that was our day and it was a nice day to kick back. at 1st, when my mother called, flyboy was saying, 'should we go somewhere?' that would be great but it's winter, it's cold and when do we get to just be lazy all day? not very often.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
