i had my oldest sister's kids today to take them around for christmas shopping. and the youngest, what a smartie. oh my goodness, she knew every sale in the book. we were all like, 'huh? how do you know all of this?'
and we went to this one place that i'm forgetting the name of, damn it.
but it had all these dvds and all on sale. $4 for a boxed set of kate & allie season 1.
kate & allie was 1 of the shows that brought back the sitcom. it had 'died' according to the press. (they spent most of this decade claiming it had died too.)
it starred the wonderful jane curtain and susan saint james.
susan is kate, jane is allie.
they're 2 moms. both divorced.
kate raises her daughter in nyc. allie is raising her 2 kids in connecticut until the whole thing goes to hell when her husband gets a girlfriend.
she and kate end up living together and raising their daughters together. (for at least 5 years until allie gets married.)
i loved this show.
jane curtain and susan st. james are an amazing comedy team (they and jessica lange teamed up for the film how to beat the high cost of living which i strongly recommend).
i loved this show.
there were 20 copies, i bought every 1 of them. i'm going to keep 1 and give the others to friends who loved the show as much as i did.
season 1 was very brief by the way. just 6 episodes (but there's a bonus inclusion of a 2nd season episode). it was a mid-season replacement. and it was a huge hit.
i miss susan and jane on tv. i wish they'd do something together again.
anyway, great news, all the girls finished their christmas shopping. then we got to do aunt shopping. which is where i take them for clothes and let them pick out what they want. (and thank you to both my sisters because we grew up not starving but we didn't grow up with money and they never ever complain or get mad when i buy their kids clothes and clothes - nothing makes me happier than shopping for clothes!)
there is this wonderful pea coat, a really radiant blue, that the middle daughter found. we could only find that 1 but it is an amazing jacket. i mean it is gorgeous and it is gorgeous on her. that color looks like it was made just for her. and when that happens, it's a great day of shopping.
let's close with c.i.'s 'Iraq snapshot:'
