bill clinton was not god, jesus, mohammed or buddah.
i don't worship at the shrine of bill clinton or see hillary as the torch carrier america needs.
but can we all take a moment that when bill clinton was doing listening tours, he was listening to the american people.
i bring that up because i saw a report on good morning america today. it was rah-rah-rah bully boy is listening!
who's he listening to?
he's not listening to the people who have rated him at an all new low in both the recent cbs poll and the washington post's latest.
he's listening to condi? oh, how wonderful. it's not like she wasn't by his side the whole time.
he's listening to generals? oh wow.
i'm sorry, those are people he should have been listening to throughout this illegal war.
this is all for show.
it's past time he listened to the american people. troops home now.
do i think bill clinton would bring them home now?
i have no idea.
but i do know when clinton went to listen, he went to listen to the people.
bully boy hasn't even expanded his bubble a little.
this is such nonsense.
i'm writing early today because i'm sick. i intend to write tonight, but i really feel sick. i was fine earlier but my throat was burning while i was drinking coffee. but that was about it. flyboy had headed on to work and i was watching democracy now. about 1/2 way in, i started feeling like something was lodged deep in my throat. about 40 minutes in, i was sick to my stomach and ran to the bathroom to throw up.
i thought that was over and washing my face when it was time to throw up again.
when i finally was done, democracy now was over and i hopped on the couch (where i am now) and channel surfed. i'm going to sleep and intend to sleep most of the day. i think i have the flu. but tonight when i blog, i may not have anything to say so i thought i'd log on and write this morning.
cindy sheehan and medea benjamin are on democracy now today. from the bathroom, i believe i heard cindy sheehan discuss impeachment and note the resolution cynthia mckinney introduced last week for impeachement. (it was the last week of congress - nothing was going to happen. cynthia mckinney introduced it to get it in the record - which is more than any 1 else did.)
the women are discussing the trial so be sure to catch it. as c.i.'s already highlighted, at least 1 bomb in baghdad today has resulted in at least 60 deaths with over 200 more injured.
some dumb ass for show 'listening tour' won't address that. but then, it's not supposed to, it's just supposed to provide cover for the bully boy and give the appearance that he's paying attention.
it's hog wash. elaine, mike, wally and cedric address this yesterday (link goes to each of their entries). epsecially read elaine (all are great, but she's addressing something that we tried to address in our posts friday but ended up pulling - we being mike, myself and elaine - c.i. noted it sunday and elaine's noted it as well. since i don't know 'useless' i really can't. we were all surprised c.i. brought it up on sunday and that's probably why elaine includes her remark yesterday. it was part of a long passage in friday's post that she ended up deleting.)
i think it helps that when c.i. got back this weekend (c.i. was in d.c. and elsewhere during last week), there was an immediate crush of people asking 'are you going to address the fact that the nation isn't presenting women?' this was in terms of calls and visits (and included people on the mags masthead) as 1 after another weighed in with their disgust that 'intern' program apparently comes with a program that you must be male.
i heard about it from my mother-in-law and i knew c.i.'s immediate response would be, 'hey, i'm really not reading the magazine these days.'
if we hadn't done the air america feature this weekend, i'm willing to bet we'd have been addressing the fact that women aren't being added to the nation. you've got katha and patricia but all these men are now showing up, some interns, some foundation winners, and where are the women?
no where to be found in the mag or on the website. as my mother-in-law said, 'how nice, katrina's promoted her coffee fetcher to full time writer.'
her 'coffee fetcher' (who hates alexander cockburn, as c.i.'s noted) is male lest any 1 think a woman actually got promoted.
c.i. likes katrina but the issue of no women being featured by this magazine, no women being brought up through the pipelines, will be enough to have c.i. declare war on the magazine. if they want to be useless (and they apparently do), c.i. will just ignore it. but if they want to promote 1 man after another in print and in the website while they refuse to bring in women writers, you damn well better believe c.i. will address that.
that's it for me. i'm probably putting on a movie and going to sleep right here (couch). i'm in a bette davis mood so i may put on dangeorous or all about eve. i will be blogging tonight. it may not be much.
