chris cuomo is trying to sneak back into polite society.  i might let him if he was being honest.  but he's already started lying yet again. 'deadline' reports:


In his first sit down interview since he was fired by CNN, Chris Cuomo denied that he tried to influence media coverage of his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, as he was facing allegations of sexual harassment.

The revelations that Cuomo served as an informal adviser to his brother, while still hosting his nightly CNN talk show, ultimately led to his termination in December.

In excerpts of an interview with NewsNation’s Dan Abrams, Cuomo said, “I never contacted any media who were covering my brother to try to affect their coverage. I talk to people in the media all the time.”


Abrams then noted, “But you said, ‘I never made calls to the press about my brother’s situation.’ You did make calls to press about your brother’s situation.”

Tuesday, July 26, 2022.  Two bigots and bullies in Congress attack a Canadian online, there is no medical plan to address COVID in the US, Iraq announces a nominee for prime minister-designate (we're not even to the point of them having a prime minister-designate yet) and Turkey continues to deny attacking Iraq.

 US House Reps Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert are an international embarrassment.  The two hags decided to attack a man because he's gay.  The man's Canadian, doesn't live in the US but they wanted to spew hatred.   What they're doing is hate speech and in the US that's embarrassing.  However, our northern neighbor that we share a border with?  Well Canada has criminalized hate speech.  So the two hags aren't just being bitches, they're being potential criminals in the eyes of Canada.  There was no reason for the hags to pick on the man.  Now they should have the curse they deserve which is they should reap what they sow, they should have the life they truly deserve -- never ending misery.  May karma get them both.  


I don't understand why Congress has an ethics review board if nonsense like this takes place.  The two hags engaged in online bullying.  Supposedly, that's something that's not supposed to happen.  The man did nothing to them and they are encouraging attacks on him.  


The hags are members of Congress.

From sick minds to sickness, US President Joe Biden has COVID 19.  Benjamin Mateus (WSWS) reports:


At yesterday’s White House COVID-19 press briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declared, “As we have said, almost everyone is going to get COVID and because of the hard work we have done since day one turning around the disjointed COVID response we had inherited, we have the tools to ensure that people can go about their daily life and work.”

Biden’s spokewoman then added, “The president is fully vaccinated, twice boosted, and taking Paxlovid. His current health speaks to how Americans should avail themselves to boosters and treatments.”

This is a remarkable admission in that it explicitly states that the Biden administration has washed its hands of any attempt to stem a pandemic that has already killed a million people in America and 20 million around the world. “Everyone is going to get COVID” should be read as a statement of intent. It confirms that a policy of mass infection, mass death and mass murder is the agenda of the US president and the ruling class for which he speaks.

Hospitalizations and deaths continue to climb as BA.5’s dominance grows. Nearly 450 people are dying every day from COVID-19. This translates to 164,000 a year, five times the average killed by influenza and a toll that would have been considered inconceivable before the beginning of the pandemic. And this does not take into account the predictions by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of another massive surge of infections this fall and winter.

Beyond the immediate death toll, one in five of those who are infected and survive will experience Long COVID, and a third of these can suffer from debilitating disease. Yet, with $1.3 billion given to the NIH (National Institutes of Health) to study the Post-Acute COVID Syndrome (the formal title of Long COVID), there is not a single therapeutic trial up and running. The press secretary was not asked about this and would have had nothing to say.

Meanwhile, study after study has documented that even mild COVID-19 infections can accelerate the aging process in adults and children. Allowing everyone to get infected means a generation of children and teenagers who will be deliberately crippled even before they have ventured into the world on their own.  

Hospitals across the country are facing drastic and unprecedented staffing shortages, which are further compounding worker burnout. Infections and reinfections are causing health care workers to fall sick and forcing them to choose between staying home to care for themselves or coming in to work and infecting their patients. Many hospitals are considering eliminating routine COVID-19 testing to cut wait times in overcrowded emergency rooms. 



Moving on to Iraq, The attack by the Turkish government last week remains in the news.  Of course, the government of Turkey denies the attack.   The same way the government of Turkey denies the historic Armenian genocide.  Iraq lodged a complaint with the United Nations Security Council and they want the council to hold a session addressing the attack.  That session is supposed to take place today.  In the meantime,  ASHARQ AL-AWSAT reports:


The United Nations Security Council condemned in the strongest terms on Monday the attack on a tourist resort in Iraq’s northern Dohuk province on July 20.


The attack resulted in at least nine civilian deaths, including children.


The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Iraqi government and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured, and expressed their support for the Iraqi authorities in their investigations, read a statement. 


PRESS TV notes:


The statement comes as Baghdad has filed a complaint against Turkey at the UNSC, requesting an urgent session to discuss the deadly artillery attack that Baghdad blames on Turkey, the Iraqi foreign ministry said on Saturday.

The ministry spokesman Ahmad al-Sahaf said Iraq's chargé d'affaires had been recalled from Ankara in the wake of the attack. Iraq's parliament also held a special session Saturday, with lawmakers deciding to form a committee to investigate the matter further.

Authorities in Iraq insist that the attack was carried out by Turkish forces, holding them directly responsible for the deaths and injuries of Iraqi civilians. Ankara has attributed the attack to members of the PKK terrorist group.


THE NATIONAL spoke to some of the survivors of the attack:


The National spoke to two families who lost two members, one an 11-month-old baby and the other a 24-year-old woman.

Some of the victims were from the city of Hilla, located in central Babylon province.

Durgham lost his first and only baby daughter, Zahraa.

“You can see me alive, but I am like a dead body,” he told The National.

“My daughter was less than a year old, the family and I were waiting and preparing for her birthday party, so, what kind of life would we live after this big loss?” he asked.

“I cannot forget her image, her voice while playing at home, or even the last phone call with her when she can only say: ‘Baba’”, he said.

“I had not seen my daughter since she went with my family to Kurdistan, she was killed with the same clothes she wore at home”.

Tourist massacre marks turning point in Turkish-Iraqi ties
Iraq’s major political actors have all condemned Turkey over a deadly attack on a tourist site in what many believe signal a major downturn in bilateral ties.

Mina Aldroubi (THE NATIONAL) notes, "In 2016, Turkey established a permanent military presence in Bashiqa, about 75 kilometres from Dohuk."  Turkey now has at least five military bases in Iraq, they have ground troops in the country and they attack with War Planes and drones.  All of this takes place in violation of Iraq's national sovereignty and all of these actions amount to acts of war carried out by the government of Turkey against Iraq.


Fehim Tastekin (AL-MONITOR) offers:

A 1984 protocol that allowed Turkish troops to pursue militants to a depth of five kilometers (three miles) inside Iraq and required them to pull out within 72 hours ended in 1988, when the two sides failed to renew it. Such an arrangement would have become irrelevant anyway, given the extensive web of Turkish military bases, outposts and checkpoints inside Iraq today as well as repeated air raids as far as in Sinjar and Mahkmour, lying respectively 160 kilometers (99 miles) and 218 kilometers (135 miles) from the border. Ankara has cited the UN Charter’s Article 51 on self-defense to justify its cross-border operations since 2017.

There is growing apprehension that Turkey’s actions amount to an expanding occupation. Statements coming from Ankara have not helped allay such fears. Presidential adviser Ayhan Ogan, for instance, warned July 21 that “if Turkey’s security concerns are ignored and, moreover, provoked, Turkey would create a new security belt all the way from Aleppo to Mosul.” Such a perspective points to an integrated approach on Ankara’s plan for a 30-kilometer-deep safe zone in northern Syria and its actions in northern Iraq.


 

Najah  Mohammed Ali (INTERNATIONAL POLICY DIGEST) observes:

Erdogan has taken advantage of the escalating tensions between Moscow and Western capitals over the conflict in Ukraine, to ensure the West remains silent over its escalating military operations in northern Iraq as it prepares to send its forces into neighboring Syria to target the People’s Protection Units (YPG), a group that Ankara considers an offshoot of the PKK, while the United States considers it a strong ally.

It is speculated that Turkey, which is a member of NATO, agreed to the accession of Finland and Sweden on the condition that NATO looks the other way as Turkey launches renewed attacks against PKK militants.

Since the parliamentary elections in October last year, Iraqi political parties have entered into a fierce competition to form a new government. With continued political dysfunction, sectarian conflict and institutional corruption, the attempt to push back against renewed Turkish operations against PKK militants could be in vain before the formation of a strong central government. Until a permanent government is formed, Iraqi sovereignty will be viewed as malleable.


A permanent government?  Back in October, Iraq held elections.  The country still doesn't have a new prime minister or president.  However, there is some movement on the political front.  THE NEW ARAB reports:


The Coordination Framework, an umbrella parliamentary bloc including all Iran-backed Shia factions, formally nominated Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani to be the new Iraqi prime minister, Iraqi state media reported Monday. 

"Today, the leaders of the Shia framework met in positive conditions and they unanimously agreed to nominate Mr Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani for the [Iraqi] premiership," read a statement released by the Coordination Framework. 

Al-Sudani, 52, is a Shia Iraqi lawmaker from the south-eastern Maysan Governorate. He has a Bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences. He has held several posts and ministerial portfolios in the Iraqi government, including the governor of Maysan, the minister of human rights in 2010, and the minister of labour and social affairs in 2014.

'animal kingdom' is winding down its final season.  sunday night, deran's barkeep had an idea to rob a dentist office and they carried it out but the barkeep got injured.  meanwhile, pope squeezed the kid he was helping who confessed that the woman claiming to be his mother was a cop.  he went face to face with her and offered to pay her off.  she wants to put him away.  at the end of the episode, he told deran and j about the woman.  craig is back with his baby mama.  

which means?

baby is sitting around in unchanged diapers crying while the woman's off trying to score coke and, when not doing that, she tells craig to pull over so she can get a drink and then comes running out telling him to start the car because she's robbed the store.

she's no good.

and to make it work, craig is doing cocaine with her.

craig really is pathetic.  maybe he's learning. he seemed ticked off when he found his son in the soiled diaper crying and a woman he didn't even know told him that his girlfriend had left awhile ago to find some cocaine.

in other t.v. news, samantha bee has been cancelled.  tbs is done with 'full frontal.'  it was not a hit show.  it was not a fair show.  

samantha screeched and screamed and attacked.  she was a propaganda organ for the democrats and should not have been allowed to be.  

on 'the daily show' - before the hideous trevor noah - jon stewart would call out excess and stupidity in either of the 2 major parties.  then it became nothing but partisan nonsense under trevor noah.  that is also what samantha bee provided. as a grown up, i don't worship politicians or rush to form fan clubs for them.

samantha bee screeched and screamed and it did not make for entertainment or good t.v.  it was a comedy show - or supposed to be.

i'm glad she got the axe.  she's needed it for years.  maybe now she can work on that marriage of hers that has been falling apart for over 2 years.  hint to samantha, you're never going to find any 1 better than jason and you were lucky to have landed him in the first place.  mismatch!

Who will save us from the stupid?  Here's Jimmy Dore telling you that "NPR's turning on Zelensky and Ukraine" -- the pot head comedian says making it clear that he is not fit to run for president.  If you missed it, the People's Party supposedly wants to draft him to run for the president of the United States in 2024 because there aren't enough clowns in politics already.  Here's the video.

NPR did not report any such things.  NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO reports many stories on air.  Over the airwaves, it's radio.  They feature those stories -- often with transcriptions -- at their website.  They sometimes do 'digital packages' of major stories or popular stories if they're on science.  NPR did not write the story Jimmy Dore is stupidly insisting is their story.  


Look at the video.  In the left hand corner you have "npr" in colored letters.  In the right hand corner, you have "THE ASSOCIATED PRESS."  NPR, like many other US outlets, published the AP story.  That's what Jimmy Dore stupidly thinks is a report done by NPR.


Idiot.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's dismissal of senior officials is casting an inconvenient light on an issue that the Biden administration has largely ignored since the outbreak of war with Russia: Ukraine's history of rampant corruption and shaky governance.

As it presses ahead with providing tens of billions of dollars in military, economic and direct financial support aid to Ukraine and encourages its allies to do the same, the Biden administration is now once again grappling with longstanding worries about Ukraine's suitability as a recipient of massive infusions of American aid.


CNBC ran the AP report, BANGOR DAILY NEWS ran it, ARGUS PRESS, FOX NEWS in Memphis, and on and on.  If you GOOGLE just the first paragraph, you will find it ran all over the US and has some 715,000 search results.  This was five days ago.   By the way, the authors are Matthew Lee and Nomaan Merchant.


But there's the tubby boy with the fat head telling you an AP story is NPR.  The only more stupid than Jimmy?  His followers.

On Ukraine, we'll note what Pedro Gonzalez published at SERVANT OF THE CORRUPT two months ago:


In February 2021, by order of President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine shut down three domestic television channels, accusing them of spreading Russian “propaganda.” Three months later, Zelenksky arrested Viktor Medvedchuk, who was at the time leading the second-biggest party in Ukraine’s national parliament, the pro-Russia and Eurosceptic Opposition Platform for Life (OPZZh).

Zelensky didn’t have trouble incinerating vaunted democratic norms well-before Russia crossed the Rubicon into Ukraine this year. So it was no surprise when he did it again amid the war in late March, invoking emergency powers under martial law to nationalize TV channels and ban 11 opposition parties, including OPZZh — all supposedly done in the name of combatting Russian misinformation and Russian sympathizers, even though OPZZh’s then-chairman, Yuriy Boyko, denounced the war and called for a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. Zelensky, however, wouldn’t miss another opportunity to clip the wings of political opposition in his country, certainly not now that Western media rationalizes and glorifies his every move.

But the portrait of the Ukraine President as a democratic paragon whitewashes the real Zelensky and conceals a vast web of corruption and international skullduggery of which Ukraine is situated in the centre. Understanding the real Zelensky, requires seeing him as a creation of Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky. He is, in truth, a puppet of intrigue.

The Pandora Papers

It might be hard to believe now, but revelations from documents in the Pandora Papers — millions of files from offshore service providers leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and shared with partners around the world — sent Zelensky reeling last year, threatening to end his political career. Though the actor-turned-politico campaigned as an anti-corruption reformer, the Pandora Papers showed him to be just as crooked as his predecessors.

Of more than 300 politicians and public officials, including several current and former national leaders, in more than 91 countries and territories to whom the documents were linked, Ukraine was home to more secret offshore holdings than any other, including Russia. The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which contributed to the investigation, found that just before Zelensky was elected president, “he gifted his stake in a key offshore company, the British Virgin Islands-registered Maltex Multicapital Corp., to his business partner — soon to be his top presidential aide. And in spite of giving up his shares, the documents show that an arrangement was soon made that would allow the offshore to keep paying dividends to a company that now belongs to his wife.”

As it was with crackdowns on free speech and political opposition, Zelensky’s office attempted to justify the use of offshores by blaming the specter of Russian aggression. An adviser to Zelensky’s chief of staff said the offshores were necessary to “protect” the group’s incomes against the “aggressive actions” of the “corrupt” regime of former President Viktor Yanukovych, who was ousted in a US-backed color revolution in 2014. The expensive properties acquired by Zelensky associates in the center of London with the offshores, it seems, were but humble havens for persecuted Ukrainians.

Instead of inventing 'facts,' Jimmy Dore should try just amplifying them.  There's more than enough to go around.  At WSWS, Andre Damon notes:


The US military is considering “moving aircraft carriers or sending fighter planes for close air support” as part of a potential trip by US house speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, the Washington Post reported Saturday.

The discussions about US military actions in support of Pelosi’s trip were first reported in an op-ed by Josh Rogin, who wrote,

The U.S. military is devising options for protecting Pelosi’s delegation, who—as is normal procedure for congressional delegations to Taiwan—would be flying on a military plane. The measures under consideration include moving aircraft carriers or sending fighter planes for close air support. That, in turn, could be misinterpreted by the Chinese side as an aggressive rather than a defensive measure.

The discussions took place amid warnings by Chinese officials that the scheduled trip by Pelosi could trigger a military clash between Chinese and US forces.

In a separate article, the Post reported: “The Biden administration is increasingly concerned that a planned trip by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan next month could spark a major crisis across the Taiwan Strait, and the White House and an array of national security officials have briefed Pelosi and her team about the risks of traveling now, administration officials said.”

In a separate article, the Post quoted Evan Medeiros, a former top White House China expert in the Obama administration, as saying, “The Taiwan issue … could spark war—including nuclear war—between the two largest economies in the world.”

On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden said military officials believed it was “not a good idea” for Pelosi to visit Taiwan.

But despite Biden’s public comments, and public warnings to the press made by White House officials, including National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Pelosi has not publicly called off the trip. Asked to comment, she said, “it's important for us to show support” to Taiwan. Asked about Biden’s comments, Pelosi replied, “maybe the military was afraid our plane would get shot down or something like that by the Chinese.”

The attack by the Turkish government last week is not going away.  AL MAYADEEN notes, "The Iraqi government sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council on Sunday saying that Baghdad documented more than 22,740 violations committed by the Turkish armed forces."  And Sinan Mahmoud (THE NATIONAL) reports:

The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency session on Tuesday to discuss Wednesday’s bombardment in northern Iraq that Baghdad blames on Turkey, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has said.

The attack on a tourist resort in the district of Zakho in Iraq’s northern, semi-autonomous Kurdish region killed nine holidaymakers, including a child, and wounded 31 others.

Iraq's government has blamed the assault on Turkish troops, who have launched incursions against the proscribed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, inside Iraqi territory since the 1980s. Ankara has denied it was behind the attack and instead accused the PKK.

Turkey has “expansionist” goals behind its repeated attacks on Iraqi territory, an Iraqi official said on Sunday of the complaint filed by Iraq to the UN Security Council following a deadly bombardment in the Kurdistan Region that Baghdad and Erbil blamed on Ankara.

The council is set to meet Tuesday in an emergency session to discuss Wednesday’s bombardment in Duhok province’s Zakho that killed nine Iraqi tourists, sparking national outrage in the country. Iraqi and Kurdish officials attributed the attack to Turkey which denied involvement. 

Turkish violations since 2018 have numbered a staggering 22,740, Ahmed al-Sahaf, spokesperson for the Iraqi foreign ministry said, adding that "the number of memoranda and complaints submitted by the Iraqi government to the Turkish side amounted to 296 complaints." 

Sahaf further reiterated Iraq's stance in denying a "security or military" agreement with Turkey, and blamed Ankara for having "expansionist goals behind the attacks it is carrying out."

The Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, revealed new details about the Turkish forces deployed in the Iraqi territories, during a speech in the extraordinary parliament session held on Saturday to discuss the Turkish attacks on Iraq and the recent bombing of Dohuk governorate.

Yarallah explained that there are five main bases for the Turkish forces located in northern Iraq, these bases have more than four thousand Turkish soldiers.

Yarallah elaborated that the Turkish incursion has been increasing lately as the number of sites where Turkish troops are stationed were 40 sites in 2021, increased to 90 sites in the beginning of 2022, and now they are 100 sites inside Iraq. He added that these sites are not far from the areas of Zakho, Amadiya and Dohuk in northern Iraq.

Yarallah renewed his calls to send forces from the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga to these areas in order not to give the Turkish forces an opportunity to advance or deploy artillery.
